The Ontario Chamber of Commerce partners with Canada's Oil and Natural Gas Producers to present a discussion on the role of Canadian oil and natural gas in an economic recovery for Ontario that works for everyone – from consumers to the manufacturing sector to Indigenous communities.
In the new normal created after COVID, it is essential that job creation and economic development programs work for all Ontarians, including Indigenous peoples. Natural resource and energy projects have been an important vehicle for Indigenous economic development. As we pursue recovery, it is important to that First Nations have opportunities to participate in large resource projects as true partners.
As Ontario turns its attention to the reopening its economy, we have an opportunity to make sure recovery works for everyone. With the right policy conditions, our sector can contribute to Ontario’s recovery and achieve our shared objectives of creating jobs, generating pan-Canadian benefits, advancing environmental leadership at home and abroad, and building wealth while shrinking debt.
We will be joined by panelists:- Chief Sharleen Gale, Chair, First Nations Major Projects Coalition
- Malini Giridhar, VP, Business Development & Regulatory, Enbridge Gas Inc.
- Shannon Joseph, VP Government Relations & Indigenous Affairs, CAPP
- Moderated by: Rocco Rossi, President & CEO, OCC
