Walk This Way to Open Doors for Women
Green Haven Shelter for Women is excited to invite you to join our first ever annual Walk This Way to Open Doors for Women 2000 step walk! We want the community to know that we are here to stand beside them, their families, neighbours, clients, colleagues, and anyone they know or love who is a survivor of violence. We want to draw attention to the fact that gender-based violence does in fact exist in Orillia and the surrounding areas, and we want to make sure that it not only spoken about behind closed doors. Our walk is an opportunity for the community to come together and to say, “We will not stand for violence against women in Simcoe County!” And we want you to be there right beside us, walking alongside survivors of violence and letting them know that they are not in this alone. —— We invite you to come together with your friends and family this October 2nd and join us at Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia and stand in solidarity with survivors of violence. We invite you to join individually, as small teams, or as large teams to raise your voices and raise awareness. This is a fundraising event, with all proceeds going towards the cost of the event and towards Green Haven Shelter for Women’s programs and services. Register with us before September 1st to get discounted early-bird tickets at https://greenhavenshelter.kindful.com/e/walk-this-way-1/ We ask all participants to wear green shoes of any kind, or white shoes that they can decorate with stickers.
