Walk the Plank is a fundraiser operated by the Rotary Club of Orillia. Volunteers collect pledges to "walk the plank" at the Port of Orillia. 100 percent of proceeds go to upgrading and improving the Rotary Aqua Theatre at Couchiching Beach Park.

    How it works

Participants can download and print a pledge form here. To participate, a minimum of $50 worth of pledges is required. Participants should bring their pledge forms, along with their pledges, to the Port of Orillia at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2. A Rotary Club volunteer will be onsite to collect pledges, check forms, and provide instructions for participants. The event itself will start around 2:30.

    What to expect

Participants will be walking off a wooden plank and taking a plunge into Lake Couchiching. The plank will be located on the docks near the Waterfront Centre (Port of Orillia office). Participants are required to wear a lifejacket and should be comfortable with jumping into deep water. A "pirate" will be introducing each participant and "ordering" them to walk the plank. Typically a good sized crowd of spectators is in attendance, and the event is photographed and covered by local media.

    Who can take part

Participants must be at least 16 years of age and must bring and wear their own properly fitting personal floatation device or lifejacket. $50 is the minimum pledge level to take part. Participants should be comfortable with water and be able to swim.
